Malai paneer as the name suggest is the creamy paneer masala. The simplest and minimal ingredient paneer gravy which is is creamy and buttery to taste is ready in a jiffy. This is go-to recipe for us when the kids ask for paneer dish in the last minute. They like the creaminess of the gravy and are a big fan of it... and so am I. This curry makes the kids finish up their chapathis soon when served for dinner and the lunchbox comes home wiped clean when served for lunch to school :)
Try this and you will love how simple and quick it is

Green chillies - 2 or 3
Onion - 2 medium
Cream - 1/2 cup
Garam masala - 1/4 tspn
Oil - 1 tbspn
Salt to taste
Here is the stir....
- Heat a tablespoon of oil in a nonstick pan
- Chop onions finely and toss it into the pan
- Add salt as per your taste
- Slit green chillies or cut them into 2-3 pieces. Add it to the pan
- Cook this for a minute on medium flame. You want to cook the onions so dont burn them
- Sprinkle turmeric powder and stir it around
- Let it cook for a few minutes till onion turn soft and get a melt-in the mouth texture
- Pour in cream into the pan. I used fresh cream / malai. Cook while stirring frequently for about a minute or two
- Add the paneer cubes into the gravy and stir it around. Cook covered for a minute
- Sprinkle some garam masala and turn off the flame. Its done
- Serve with hot chapathis and enjoy
Note:
- Dont add too much oil as cream will also make the gravy look and become oily
- Cook the onions on medium or low flame to make them very soft
- A pinch of garam masala brings out the flavours in the end
