Thirattu paal or Sweet Khoya

Who doesnt love thirattu paal or khoya... they are so very inviting that the sight of it makes your mouth water. This one is so simple to make ... any angle you see it. The process is simple, the ingredients are few, the presentation can be quick and finishing it too can be very very easy ;)

Try this simple and quick version and you might always want to give an excuse to skip the original version.

Serves... 2 ppl
Serve option... Warm
This is what u'll need....

Sweetened condensed milk 1 small can
Lemon juice 2 tbspn
Water 1/4 cup (optional)

Here is the stir....
  • Empty condensed milk into a microwave safe bowl
  • Add water and lemon to the bowl. You can skip water if you like khoya very sweet. We prefer a little less sweet so I add little water which can be drained out later. You can add little more lemon juice in case you dont see curdling in the next step
  • Microwave the mixture for 6-8 minutes stirring once in between. You will see that it forms little granules of khoya and ready to eat
  • If there is any excess liquid strain it before tranfering to serving bowl. This step is mostly needed when adding water initially
  • Serve it warm with fried cashews and raisins on top... for some extra calories ;)

This sounds very simple to make but I am worried if the lemon juice will not make it taste sour. Will try this week and let you know

    1. Hi Sharmila,
I have made this a number of times but never tasted any sourness. Moreover I add a little water always which I drain at the end, it could be reason too. Do try and let me know how it worked for you :)
