A cookie recipe that was just a trial in my kitchen and guess what ....."a perfect hit". It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside giving it the perfect cookie effect. I wanted to make something for my hubby but without maida , without sugar and without a lot of butter... though it does use some ghee :D
In fact it all started when I found a packet of oats muesli cereal at my mom's. She had a lot so I picked one try it out. Well it stayed on the shelf for quite a while before I decided not to eat it as a cereal but it in something else instead. When making this cookie it found its way in.Now thats a little bit of added goodness.
Started making the cookies with a blank mind but then things went into the bowl one after the other and yes there it was. Made it and loved it. Sure a keepsake
A simple recipe that is all time welcome for breakfast or snack time. My mom used to make it for us when we were kids and even now :) I make them for y kids and there is never a "no" to it. It is a very very handy recipe for those lazy days when I have no mood to get into the kitchen to make breakfast or an evening snack. I would sit till the last minute that my hubby and kids start asking for food and am like "What shoud I make?" Oh yes there have been many a days like that for me and I dont shy away from that. Everybody has lazy days... rightttttttt??
I love this as the only time it takes is to put the breads together with a little spread. Toasting a few seconds gives a nice, aromatic, sweet and crisp sugar sandwich that you are sure to love..... oh only if you are a ghee lover though :D
Paneer-65 is a great hit whenever it has been served. Paneer cubes drenched in a batter blended with spices and deep-fried makes a perfect appetizer. An appetizer perfect for parties and get-togethers alike. Make the batter ahead of time and just fry the stuff when the guests have arrived
My kids love this. So whenever I have excess milk I try to make paneer for the next day. Many a times we end using it for making this for our evening snack. Nothing more satisfying than your kids falling in love and enjoying food that has been served to them
This recipe calls for very few ingredients. Try it and enjoy
Pizza buns are a perfect evening snack or after-school snack. Pizzas are our favourite.... yes all four of ours :) We love it any time. My kids love to have pizza night on Fridays and that too every Friday. I dont make it every Friday but we sure end making almost every alternate Friday night. Wow... its such a wonderful way to spend time together making pizzas... ;) I dint say that now but my kids feel so and say so
Once the basics of dough making is into your mind... you can go wild with your imaginations. I am not too much into making different kinds of breads or bakes though I would love to. We use the basic pizza dough recipe and get to make breads and buns and few others
It involves very little effort to make pizza dough but the end results are so good. I make buns using the same dough for an after-school snack sometimes and well they are always a hit :)
Chicken is cooked once or twice a week for sure at ours. We love it and so I get to try and make different varieties. This recipe has been on my wishlist for almost three years now. I was introduced to this yummy dish by my husband's colleagues wife... Geetha if I remember the name correctly. We had gone to the mall for and for lunch we settled down at the food court. There was a lot of discussion over the table as usual and everyone came up with something or the other. I was in a mood for some naan and side dish. I could just not come up with anything satisfying when my friend suggested this "Pallipalayam Chicken". She asked me to try it and ensured I would love it for sure. Well yes... I tried it.. I dont like it but instead "I LOVED IT"
Oh yes the curry burst with flavours. I could feel that it was not loaded with too many spices but whatever spices... it was just perfectly blended and perfect. I fell in love with it. To my strangeness my husbands reaction was just ok to it. Now since that was just an ok I kept on postponing to try it in my kitchen. Everytime I would plan to make it, I would think that I was making it just for myself
Now after three long years, I finally decided I should try it. The kids are old enough where they differentiate tastes very neatly and also rate them accordingly. Finally I tried making it and turned out to be a huge it. Even my hubby fell in love with it this time :D
I am sure this recipe is a keepsake for me
Soaring temperatures, humid weather, fluctuating power is making us all restless. We get more tired in summer than otherwise. Kids enjoying vacation also need something to beat the sun. A perfect solution to all this is handy summer coolers stocked up to enjoy whenever we want to
Concentrates are the best to be stocked up. Couple of ingredients and a few minutes it takes to pull this together. Once ready just leave it the refrigerator and pull it out when needed to quench your thirst
I know everyone tends to buy cold drinks more from stores during summer but believe me , once you start practising this habit of making homemade syrup, neither you nor your kids will indulge more in store-bought ones. One is that it is free from preservatives and you know what is in it before you give them to your kids. Secondly you can enjoy it more often and in taller glasses without any guilt. The best part of all is that even your kids can make it for you when you feel like sitting down for a few minutes to relax :) My kids love to make it for me and serve it to me ... making me feel like the best mother in the world :)
This is one simple pachadi / raita that I have loved from when I was a kid. Me and my Dad love it a lot. Its simple to make and yet yummy till the last spoon. Well.... you got to try this and enjoy
Kids favorite... jelly and too mango jelly.... this one is a hit with every kid. A real kids crowd pleaser. We make jellies all year long but then summers are special coz we always get to have the king of fruits to add up that special taste to our favourite snack
When kids are a part of making their favourite food they feel even extra special about it and enjoy even a little more. My kids have a lot of fun time during vacations when they cook their own food. They love being a part and enjoy it to the fullest
Heres a simple recipe that is sure to bring a lot of smiles on their face and a lot hugs and kisses to you
Mango Frooti... fresh and juicy..... remember that ad when we were kids. Oh yes frooti ... a drink loved by almost every kid. I dont drink aerated drinks.. not at all and if there is a kind request from anybody at a birthday party or any get-together to have a drink I would love to go for any mango drink..... say maaza or frooti or slice
I never thought of making it at home but for the past few days I have been seeing a lot of videos coming up on the internet. So thought why not try it this summer. Oh yes we tried and believe me its better than the store bought ones. The best part is that we can adjust the sweetness and thickness as we like. The reason I avoid drinking store bought ones is that its too thick and sweet. I cant have more than 3-4 sips. But this homemade one helps be enjoy it the way I want it to be
This recipe makes a litre of concentrate that can be stored in the refrigerator. Whenever you feel like having a cool and delicious mango drink just fill few ice cubes in a glass, pour 1/3 concentrate and fill remaining with water. Thats it sip your drink away and enjoy
your hot day
My family loved this drink and we are planning to make lot more this summer. Try and enjoy with your family too
Soya manchurian ... hmmmm ... yummm .. thats what I can say. Its lip smacking and perfect. I always make a big batch when making soya-65. One that we love it a lot and the other is that we can use some leftovers to make soya manchurian. If you are planning to make some soya manchurian then check out the recipe of soya-65 before you go ahead with the procedure
The recipe is the same that you would follow for making any other dry manchurian. Stir fry capsicum, onion, tomato and then couple of spices and some sauces and thats it. Yessss... thats it... its the very same procedure so ahead and try this one too
Love it as an appetizer and well it tastes awesome
Soya 65 ia a perfect spicy appetizer or it can even work as a quick evening snack. I would say we love it as a snack coz my kids are crazy about soya nuggets. They love it in curries, snack, biryani and manchurian. I make sure I make a little extra every time so that I can save some for myself. Its simple, quick and tasty. Love it to the core
Make it spicy and serve it with sauce for the perfect snack that kids would like to dive in. And if there are any leftovers never mind ... we can always turn it into manchurian which is also sure to be a hit :)
A simple side dish which is done in minutes with minimal effort is everyones choice on days that you feel lazy to sweat out in the kitchen. This recipe one such tasty treat lending a helping hand on such lazy days. Try it as a side dish for rotis and rice and you are sure to love it.
Doughnuts are my kids favorite and I should say my favorite too. I love munching on them especially the munchkins. I have loved them from day one. I feel that the doughnuts I find here in my place dont taste as good or fresh as they are meant to be. Initially I had to deal with it to help with my craze but once my kitchen saw these beauties were better and absolutely fresh when made at home, there was no going back.
We love making them at home and yes I get a lot of help from my little buddies as its their favorite snack. They love making them and glazing/decorating/dipping them.
I love everytihng except the deep frying part but I never stop eating it inspite of the guilt. I have always thought of trying the baked version but it has never happened. I fear it will not taste as good these. But I am planning to try that too though I dont know when
Well these are perfect to enjoy as your favorite snack
Puzhiyotharai or puzhi saatham is a traditional south Indian food made in each and every household on a regular basis. Its also served in temples as prasadam. There are many different versions of this and everyone has heir own favourite style to suit their palate. Whatever it is and however it is made, I find it awesome as it lends a wonderful helping hand in packing kids lunch with no hastle
We all love this in our home. So the mix is always made in a decent amount and stocked up in the fridge. Whenever in a hurry or even on lazy days it comes in handy. Just cook some rice and add a little amount of this mix along with some gingelly oil and give it a quick stir. The rice gets ready in no time to be packed for office or school lunch
We make it so often that I forgot to write a post till now. Last week my friend Vidya asked me for my recipe when I got to know that the recipe wasnt up here. So here it is for you my dear friend
Amla / Gooseberry is full of goodness... fibre, calcium and antioxidants to name a few. It is a super good food for every age. The best thing and the most important reason for it being included in diets is to help increase body immunity. I hate to eat it as is so I end up making juices/drinks and pickle to add it to my diet
This drink is very simple and easy to make. Its so refreshing that you will not leave even the last drop in your glass ;) We love it in all seasons :)
