If your curd and paneer then this dish is for you. A very simple paneer dish that is pulled together in no time to serve a beautiful meal at your dinner table. The dish is named so as the main ingredient that makes the gravy is curd or dahi. The dish gets chunks of onions and tomatoes in a beauifully spiced curd gravy
This recipe is quick to make yet full of flavours. Me and my kids love it a lot
Serve option... Hot with chapathis
This is what u'll need....
Paneer - 1 cup
Onion - 2 medium
Red Chillies - 2
Red Chilli powder - 1/2 tspn
Saunf /Fennel powder - 1/2 tspn
All spice powder / Curry powder - 1 tspn
Tomato - 1 big
Curd - 1 cup
Oil - 1 tbspn
Salt to taste
Onion - 2 medium
Red Chillies - 2
Red Chilli powder - 1/2 tspn
Saunf /Fennel powder - 1/2 tspn
All spice powder / Curry powder - 1 tspn
Tomato - 1 big
Curd - 1 cup
Oil - 1 tbspn
Salt to taste
Here is the stir....
- Heat oil in a pan and add thinly sliced onions to it
- Break red chillies into halves and add it to the onions
- Add a little salt and saute the onions for a couple of minutes
- Let there be a little crunch to the onions. Dont cook till they are soft
- Add half a teaspoon of red chilli powder
- Spoon in fennel/saunf powder
- Curry powder gives a good taste to the powder. If you dont have it then you can any other spices instead
- Give the mixture a good mix to evenly distribute the spices
- Add roughly chopped tomatoes. Keep it big chunks
- Stir it around for a couple of minutes and then add one-fourth cup of water.Cook for 2 minutes
- Meanwhile take curd in a wide bowl. Use fresh curd not the sour ones. Sour ones will ruin the taste of the curry by overpowering the spices
- Whisk the curd till smooth along with a little salt
- Add whisked curd to the pan
- Stir around gently on low flame. Add paneer pieces to the pan
- Cook on very low flame till it all just warm and doesnt start to boil
- Transfer it to a serving bowl. Serve hot with chapathis and enjoy
Note:
- Use fresh curd else the sourness of curd will overpower the gravy taste
- Use salt with caution as we are doing in two stages
- If you curry powder then add spices of your choice
