An addition to the everyday menu list. This doesnt take much oil so not too heavy to the tummy. Its usually had with rice.
This is what u'll need....
Appalam 10-12 nos
Onion 1 big
Tomato 1 big
Green chillies 4
Salt to taste
Shredded coconut 2 tbspn
Sambar powder 1 tbspn
Oil 1 tbspn
Mustard 1 tspn
Urad dal 1 tspn
Boiled chana dal 1/2 cup
Coriander leaves
Boiled chana dal 1/2 cup
Coriander leaves
Here is the stir....
- Heat oil in a pan and add mustard, urad dal
- Toss in chopped onions, salt and fry till they turn translucent
- Add in cut tomatoes, green chillies, sambar powder and cook for 4-5 mins
- Pour about 2 cups of water, chana dal and bring to a boil
- Meanwhile fry the appalams and keep them ready
- Crush the appalam and add it to the pan followed by shredded coconut
- Stir everything together and let it stand for a minute
- Garnish with coriander leaves and its ready to be served
