Potato snacks are always welcomed among kids and adults alike. The taste and texture and simplicity is like an addiction. We make potato sandwiches and cutlets and rolls and what not... this one is more like an open sandwich. The toasting makes it more crunchy on the top and a beauty when presented
We enjoy this as an evening snack when the kids get to sit down relaxed for a while to munch on some favorites. This one is their special favorite which they fight for the perfect share... not less even by a single bite
Basic ingredients and a little time is all that you need to put together this yummy snack. Enjoy it during your evening tea or with a cosy cup of coffee at your morning breakfast table

Serve option... Hot
This is what u'll need....
Bread slices - 10-12
Potatoes - 3
Onion - 1 big
Red chilli flakes- 1 tspn
Poppy seeds - 1 tbspn
Grated Cheese - 2 tbspn
Bread crumbs - 1-2 tbspn
Oil - 1 tbspn
Salt to taste
Potatoes - 3
Onion - 1 big
Red chilli flakes- 1 tspn
Poppy seeds - 1 tbspn
Grated Cheese - 2 tbspn
Bread crumbs - 1-2 tbspn
Oil - 1 tbspn
Salt to taste
Here is the stir....
- Heat oil in a nonstick pan and add chopped onions to it. Saute it for a minute or so. Let the onions become a little translucent
- Meanwhile boil and peel the potatoes
- Dry roast the poppy seeds and keep it aside to cool
- Take a wide mouthed bowl and add the potatoes to it. Spoon in the sauteed onion
- Mix the poppy seeds and add the red chilli flakes to it followed by required amount of salt
- Grate cheese. You can use more or less as per your wish
- Now finally add the breadcrumbs
- Mix everything together leaving no big lumps or chunks of potato left out
- Form a soft dough like mix
- Cut out bread into circles using a bowl or cutter. You can use whole breads too but for an appealing look we prefer this :)
- Take a tbspn or little more of the mixture and pat it into a thin disc or patty on top of the bread circle. Press it firmly so the potatoes mixture sticks to the bread
- Heat an iron skillet or a nonstick pan. Brush it with a little oil. Now place the patty side on it and let cook till potatoes turn brown and crispy
- Flip and cook till bread turns golden
- Flip one more time and let sit for a few seconds
- Remove from flame and serve hot. Enjoy with your cup of chai
Note:
- Poppy seeds add a little flavor and crunch to the dish
- Flip twice for the perfect crisp
- Don't worry about the leftover bread. You can always use it to make breadcrumbs or upma or cutlet
